CONGRATULATIONS TO GOLDEN HILL LITTLE LEAGUE 10/11 YEAR OLD ALL STARS - CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 56

This talented group of 11 year olds battled all the way to California Section 5 Championship game against District 30, Tustin Eastern Little League.  In the final game, held in Long Beach on Wednesday, July 16th, our players, under the management of Bob Mellano, Bob McEntee and Tony Piraino, played a great defensive game.  The team's coaching staff and fans could not be more proud of the effort put into this tournament and the District 56 tournament.

Thank you to all the families and individuals who came out to support all of the All Star games played by Golden Hill Little League and, particularly, the continued support of the 10/11 year old team into Sectional play.  We are proud of our league's accomplishment and we look forward to the continued development of our players and progression of our league into the future.

WANTED: 2009/2010 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Golden Hill Little League is looking for a few good men and women to serve on the 2009/2010 Board of Directors.  Please consider getting involved in your child's experience with GHLL as a board member.  We need your help in moving forward as we grow and develop into one of the best Little Leagues in the area.

If you are interested in serving, at any level, please send an email to our League President, Kurt Blodgett at kurt.blodgett@ghll.net telling of your interest.  A Board member term is two years and begin October 1, 2008 and run through September 30, 2010.  Ballots will be mailed to all player households in July.

GOLDEN HILL LITTLE LEAGUE EXCELLED IN THE POST-SEASON

Golden Hill Little League once again proved that we are a force to be reckoned with in post-season play against other area teams.  In the District 56 Tournament of Champions, our Junior Padres lost only one game and went on to be the consolation bracket winner.  At Majors, our Athletics won their first two games and lost to Placentia in a fiercely played game (you are only guaranteed two games, so once you lose beyond the second, you are knocked-out of the bracket).

In the City of Fullerton Championship Tournament, our Major Dodgers, AAA Angels and AA Angels were winners.  At the Majors and AAA levels, the championship game was played by two GHLL teams.  In the Junior Alliance Tournament (a friendship tournament between the teams in EFLL, GHLL, WFLL, and Placentia LL) was won by our own GH Dodgers.  Finally, in our intra-league Single A Tournament, the Angels were crowned Champions.

Congratulations to all the teams that played in the post-season for showing that GHLL is comprised of champion ballplayers.

LITTLE LEAGUE - THE GREATEST TIME OF A CHILD'S LIFE

Little League baseball, which began in 1939, now has over 2.5 million children participating in all 50 states. Organized sports teach kids teamwork and self-esteem, and give some kids a lifelong passion. Baseball, more than any other sport, allows for the opportunity for even the weakest participants to be in a position to win a big game for his or her team.

These are memories people never forget.

Parents, enjoy it all! Soon enough our kids will be grown and all that we will be left with is the memory of a sunny Saturday afternoon at the park with hundreds of kids in their baseball uniforms beaming with excitement and having the time of their lives!

If you would like to volunteer and be a part of Golden Hill Little League, we have many positions available. Your child's team needs volunteers, and the league needs volunteers and our concession stands need volunteers. Thank you to everyone involved with Golden Hill Little League for making this a wonderful time!
